STRANGE FELLOWS CRAFT CIDER

Prior to the opening of the brewery, one of the original Strange Fellows dreamed of starting a little cidery in the country. Thanks to the alignment of the stars, and a prevailing greater love of beer, the cidery did not materialize, but Strange Fellows Brewing did and was determined to include craft cider as one of its offerings. When in season, our ciders are available both On Tap in our Tasting Room and in packaged format to enjoy at home.

Strange Fellows’ cider is made in the English tradition with a variety of new and old-world apples, all grown in the Okanagan. Our two ciders differ mainly in the type apples we chose to make them. Orchard has a much higher proportion of traditional cider apple varieties, while Woodland has a higher proportion of new-world apple varieties. Porter's Perfection is the main cider apple variety we use along with other varieties like Newtown Pippin, Cox's Orange Pippin, and Golden Russett. With a higher proportion of cider apples over dessert apples, Orchard has a much more complex flavour and aroma, while Woodland is a brighter, tart and refreshing cider.

Farmhouse-style Cider

Bright | Balanced | Dry

Believed to reside in the orchard's oldest tree, the apple spirit is feted each year to ensure a bountiful harvest the next. Songs are sung, evil spirits scared off by noisy revellers, and cider is poured on the tree's roots to reawaken it. Raise a glass of this tart, bright cider - made with a blend of traditional and new world varietals - to the apple trees prosperity.

Made with a blend of both traditional English cider apples and new world varietals, our Woodland Farmhouse-style cider is aromatic, bright and refreshing. A firm and tannic structure results from the addition of Porter's Perfection, a classic old world cider apple grown in Cawston BC.
